Babel towers over Golden Globes
Babel was the surprise winner at today's Golden Globe nominations, finishing ahead of more fancied contenders Flags of Our Fathers and The Departed. The globe-hopping, ensemble drama from the Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu led the charge with seven nominations, including best film, best actor (Brad Pitt) and best supporting actress for the Japanese newcomer Rinko Kikuchi.
